NDAA: Senate modifies HUBZones
House passes $696 billion NDAA version exceeding budget caps
The Senate version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal 2018 has a section that aims to improve HUBZones.
HUBZones are a Small Business Administration program to strengthen impoverished areas designated as Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZones).
To stimulate economic activity in the zones, the government’s goal is to award 3% of federal contracts to small businesses in HUBZones. In recent years, the reality has fallen far short. Last year, HUBZone firms got only 1.7%.
